Of Galician origin, he began his musical training in Vigo. He studied Singing at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Madrid, obtaining the Honor Award and the Extraordinary Prize «Lucrecia Arana». Later he expanded his training with the famous tenor Pedro Lavirgen.
In 1990, he won the 1st. «Francisco Alonso» Singing Competition Award, and was a finalist of the «Plácido Domingo» Trophy organized by the Madrid Association of Friends of Music. Cultural Ambassador for Peace in Chiapas and Lyric Revelation Prize in Mexico, both in 1993. In 1998 he participated in the commemoration of the Independence of the Philippines, in 2006 at the 150th Anniversary Gala of the Teatro Nacional La Zarzuela in Madrid, and, one year later, on the 55th Anniversary of the Opera of A Coruña. In 2010 is invited to sing at Le Concert Noble de Bruxelles on the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. Professional Career Award granted, in 2015, by the Spanish Association of Friends of Lyric, has been awarded, among other institutions, by the Department of Culture of Mexico City, the Lyric Art Foundation of Colombia, the Romanza-Opera Association of Lima, the Sonoran and Michoacan Institutes of Culture, the Music-Cultural Association «Pedro Lavirgen ”, and the municipalities of Bujalance and Haro.
He debuted in 1987 with the Anthology Homage to Maestro Alonso at the Fernán Gómez Cultural Center Theater in Madrid, and, four years later, made his operatic debut as Escamillo / Carmen at the Morelia Opera. First baritone of the famous Anthology of the Zarzuela de José Tamayo, is a recognized interpreter of this genre, with almost 40 sung titles, among which we can highlight Vidal / Luisa Fernanda, Juan / Los gavilanes, Juan Pedro / La rosa del azafrán, Joaquín / La del manojo de rosas, Black / Black el payaso, Juan de Eguía / La tabernera del puerto, Pedro Stakoff / Katiuska, Don Manolito / Don Manolito, Santi / El caserío, Miguel / La parranda, Mario / La leyenda del beso, Germán / La del soto del parral, El Caballero de Gracia / La Gran Vía, or Nühredin / El asombro de Damasco.
His concert repertoire includes The Messiah (Händel), Die Krönungsmesse (Mozart), Symphonie Nr.9 Choral(Beethoven), Requiem (Fauré), and Carmina Burana (Orff). He has participated in the recovery of the zarzuelas Chin Chun Chan (Jordá), Mis dos mujeres (Barbieri), María Adela (Bartlet), Xuanón (Moreno-Torroba), El juramento y El sueño de una noche de verano, both of Gaztambide, the operas Ezio (Händel), Rénard the fox (Stravinsky) and La Dolores (Bretón), and, more recently in the world premieres of the operas Fuenteovejuna (Muñíz), and La casa de Bernarda Alba (Ortega), the latter in its version for chamber orchestra, and whose interpretation of the transvestite role of Poncia has been a real hit in his career.
He has to his credit the world premieres and recordings of Salmo ( Carreño), The march of victory(Muhammad), Cantata Asturiana (Ruíz) and several works by the Mexican composer Álvarez del Toro (the operas El canto de los volcanes and La marimba arrecha, the Espejos Suite and the El Gigante Hymn). He has recorded Joaquín Rodrigo’s Pavana Real (EMI Classics), Manuel de Falla’s seven Spanish popular songs(Channel 11 of TV-Mexico), Christmas Classics (Cadena COPE), the zarzuelas El rey que rabió (Iberautor), La del manojo de rosas, La Gran Vía, and La rosa del azafrán (all for YouMoreTv) and several lyric selections with the Gijón Symphony Orchestra.
